[COVID-19: THE ANNOUNCEMENTS THIS WEEK]

  • THE CLIPPER ROUND THE WORLD RACE will finish at a later date, as the three remaining legs have been postponed for at least ten months with the fleet currently in quarantine in the Philippines. Consequently, the start of the next edition, which was scheduled for 2021-2022, has been postponed until the summer of 2022.
  • THE BVI SPRING REGATTA (30th March-5th April) has been postponed.
  • THE SOLO GUY COTTEN (2nd-5th April) has also been postponed with the organiser announcing they are “doing their utmost to find an appropriate date later this season.”
  • THE TP52 WORLDS, the second leg of the 52 Super Series, which was due to take place in Cape Town (31st March-4th April) have been cancelled.
  • THE RORC EASTER CHALLENGE (10th-12th April) has been cancelled and a decision will be taken at a later date about the other RORC races.
  • THE VOILES DE SAINT-BARTH event (12th-18th April) has been cancelled. The 2021 edition will take place from 11th to 17th April.
  • THE PLASTIMO MINI LORIENT (start on 16th April) has been cancelled.
  • THE ENVSN FOILING DAYS event, which was due to take place from 17th to 19th April, has been “postponed until the autumn, if conditions allow that.”
  • THE FRENCH OLYMPIC WEEK OF HYÈRES will not take place as initially scheduled (18-25 April).
  • THE TRANSAT AG2R LA MONDIALE will not take place as initially scheduled (the start was to have been 19th April). The organiser, OC Sport Pen Duick, is waiting to see how the situation develops before deciding on whether to cancel or postpone the event.
  • THE 44CUP PORTOROZ, the first leg of the RC44 Cup (22nd-26th April), has been cancelled.
  • THE 900 NAUTIQUES DE SAINT-TROPEZ (19th-26th April) has been cancelled.
  • THE ARBITRATION PANEL for the 36th America’s Cup has cancelled the America’s Cup World Series due to take place in Cagliari (23rd-26th April).
  • ANTIGUA SAILING WEEK (25th April-1st May) will not take place. The organisers hope to see you in 2021.
  • THE CONGRESSIONNAL CUP (28th April-3rd May in Long Beach) has been postponed until later in the year.
  • THE PORNICHET SELECT 6.50 (start on 1st May) has been cancelled.
  • SAILGP has cancelled the San Francisco leg, which was scheduled for 2nd-3rd May.
  • THE 2020 ANTIGUA BERMUDA RACE (start scheduled for 6th May) has been cancelled.
  • A decision has not yet been taken concerning THE TRANSAT CIC. The organiser, OC Sport Pen Duick,  has decided to take some time to consider the situation before deciding what happens to the race, which was due to start on 10th May.
  • THE OSTAR / TWOSTAR 2020 (start scheduled for 10th May) has been postponed until 2021.
  • THE ARGO BERMUDA GOLD CUP (11-16 May) a has been posponed to October 2020.
  • THE 49ER/49ER FX/NACRA 17 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS (11-17 May in Malcesine) have been cancelled.
  • THE PORTSMOUTH AMERICA’S CUP WORLD SERIES DE PORTSMOUTH (4-7 June), have been cancelled.
  • THE NEWPORT BERMUDA RACE (start on 19 June) has been cancelled.
  • KIEL’S WEEK, initially scheduled from June 20, will finally taking place this year from September 5 to 13.
  • THE TRANSAT QUEBEC SAINT-MALO is still on (start on 12th July). The organisers have asked the teams wishing to compete and who are not yet registered to send in their registration forms.
  • THE OPTIMIST WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS (1-11 July, Riva del Garda) have been posponed later this year.
  • THE 2020 TOKYO OLYMPICS have been rescheduled “to a date beyond 2020 but not later than summer 2021”.

[DEPARTURES & NOMINATIONS]

  • JULIA RAYMOND has joined Absolute Dreamer as project manager in charge in particular of the ETF Series.
  • JUSTINE METTRAUX will be working with the two skippers on the Class40 Banque du Léman, Valentin Gautier and Simon Koster, in the 2020 Transat Quebec Saint-Malo.
  • LAURENT ESQUIER has, according to Saily.it, stepped down as CEO of COR 36, the company created by Patrizio Bertelli to organize the America’s Cup World Series and the Prada Cup. Others who have left, according to the Italian site, include sales and marketing director, Mirko Groeschner, and Justin Chisholm, the director of communication.

  • THOMAS DALMAS, currently on a short term contract after an internship with Team Initiatives Coeur, is looking for a job as research engineer with fixed term or permanent contract with an ocean racing team from May 2020.

[TRAINING COURSES]

  • LOUIS GUAY, a second-year student at the Institut Nautique de Bretagne (sales in the marine and industrial sectors), wishes to continue with a technical degree, and is looking for a sandwich course placement for a year in marine gear, rigging, sailing from September 2020.
  • MALO JULLIEN, who is in his second year at the engineering IMT Mines Albi college (specialising in mechanical and materials engineering) is looking for a placement for six months from May 2020 in the field of boat building especially offshore racing boats.
  • VICTORINE HAMON, who has been on an internship at MerConcept in  communication and sponsoring, is  looking  for a follow on placement for one year also in communication, sponsorships still in the offshore racing sector.

  • VIRTUAL REGATTA have launched “The Big Escape” a virtual Transat between La Rochelle and Curaçao the start will be on Monday at 13:02 CET players having the choice of boat between Ultime, Imoca, Class40 and Figaro 3.
