On the Market: The Tour Voile moves to the Figaro 3

DEPARTURES & APPOINTMENTS

THOMAS NORMAND, after four and a half years as general manager of MerConcept, has just been appointed director of operations for North Sails France.

YANN ÉLIÈS and AXELLE PILLAIN complete the crew of Malizia-Seaxplorer on The Ocean Race, which will start on January 15 from Alicante. The rest of the crew is made up of Boris Herrmann (skipper), Will Harris, Nicolas Lunven, Rosalin Kuiper and Antoine Auriol (mediaman).

ELLIE DRIVER, a 20-year-old sailor who distinguished herself this season in double-handed sailing with her father Jim in the Rorc races, was voted British Sailor of the Year. In New Zealand, TOM SAUNDERS, ILCA 7 world champion at the end of 2021 and 4th this year, was voted salor of the year.

 

JOBS & RECRUITMENT

TEEM LORIENT is looking for an self reliant and experienced electronics/electrician; a permanent position to be filled immediately.

THE PAPREC ARKÉA TEAM is looking for an experienced composite technician to work on Yoann Richomme’s Vendée Globe project; permanent position, based in Lorient.

C3 TECHNOLOGIES is looking for a composites technician, project manager, with good knowledge and experience of prepreg manufacturing processes: fixed-term or permanent position to be filled immediately, based in La Rochelle.

DUQUEINE ATLANTIQUE is recruiting on permanent contracts, positions to be filled as soon as possible on the Malville facility (between Nantes and Saint-Nazaire):

AG+ SPARS, a SME specializing in the design and production of masts and accessories for boat manufacturers, is looking for a sales technician, regatta experience appreciated, fluency in English desired; permanent position, based in Saint-Laurent-de-la-Prée (17).

THE IMOCA LAZARE TEAM is recruiting 3 experienced/navigating technicians: a composite manager, a rigging/fittings manager, a systems manager; positions to be filled immediately, based in Lorient.

SAILING PRAMAC is launching a recruitment campaign to train a crew under 30 (national level in dinghy sailing required) for 5 years in IRC crew and doubles, on a Grand Soleil 44 Race based between Saint-Malo, La Trinité-sur -Sea and Noirmoutier.

 

SALES & RENTALS

THE CIMA BOATS YARD is offering the Wevo 6.5, its new Mini 6.50, ready to sail (with sails and fittings, plus expert advice for 5 days), at a price of €49,900 (instead of €68,800), a special price to reach the 10 units produced (8 have been ordered to date) and thus allow it to go into Mini series.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS & PARTNERSHIPS

THE FRENCH SAILING FEDERATION has announced that the Tour Voile will return in July 2023 with a new support, the Figaro 3, and a new crewed format that will be part of the Tour de Bretagne, whose course was presented last Saturday at the Nautic in Paris, and will then continue on the Atlantic coast.

LA CAP MARTINIQUE is already full for its second edition, which will start on April 14, 2024 from La Trinité-sur-Mer, since 50 solo sailors and duos have registered within 24 hours of the opening of the registration.

THE TRANSAT JACQUES VABRE 2023 will start on October 29 from Le Havre, the organizer announced a line-up of 100 boats at the start, 40 in Imoca, 10 in Ocean Fifty and 50 in Class40, which will start on three different courses.

ACE unveiled the race areas and dates for the 37th America’s Cup on Wednesday. The Cup Match, which will pit Emirates Team New Zealand against the winner of the Challenger Selection Series, will take place from October 12 to 20 2024 (victory will go to the first to win seven rounds). The final regatta of the new Women’s America’s Cup will take place on October 16.

THE OCEAN RACE announced on Thursday that the 2023 edition, in addition to the five registered Imoca teams, will welcome “up to five VO65 teams” who will participate in The Ocean Race VO65 Sprint Cup which will include three stages (Alicante-Cape Verde, Aarhus-The Hague, The Hague-Genoa) and in-port regattas in these cities.

PETERS & MAY has renewed its partnership with the 52 Super Series for three additional years, i.e. until the end of 2025.

MARINESHIFT360, a marine industry specific lifecycle assessment tool (LCA), has entered into a sustainable development partnership with IMOCA, thus continuing a collaboration started in 2021.

THE GREATEST, collection of 38 paintings by French artist David Jamin, portraits of great sportsmen (including Eric Tabarly, Peter Blake and Ellen MacArthur), will be auctioned on December 13 for the benefit of the Swiss association Léman hope, which helps children in cancer remission. The canvases are exhibited until December 18 at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne.

 

LAUNCHES

THE OCOG launched registrations for the ticketing draw for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on Thursday. The registration period will end on January 31, 2023.
